Day 1 "Adventure" canyon
Canyoning day in the mountains.
The formula " adventure 1 canyon "It is suitable for canyoning enthusiasts and beginners alike.be comfortable in the water as if suspended from a rope.
During this canyoning day we will take the opportunity to do some canyoning less frequented because they require some mountain walking on the approach and return.
It is however the effort necessary to discover these Pyrenean canyons, beautiful and wilder ! Depending on the conditions and your wishes, we will go to: The Brousset canyonthe upper part of the Bitet canyonthe canyon of Cap de Pount at the foot of the Pic du Midi d'Ossaucanyon, the Cassies in the Ouzoum valley and many other routes!

The activity In detail
General Info
- Different location depending on the route chosen: Laruns 64440, Ferrières 65560, Sainte Engrâce 64560 (see map at the bottom of the page)
- From early May to late SeptemberHowever, the practicability of the routes offered in this formula will depend on the period:
- In May, early June: Cassiès, Oïlloki: "abseiling" oriented courses with many waterfalls to descend on ropes. More technical, but less aquatic.
- from mid-June: the Brousset, a varied and aesthetic course with one of the narrowest jumps in the valley!

- from the beginning of July: Bitet supérieur, Cap de Pount: the two routes where you have to walk the most (2 hours = outward journey + return) but the change of scenery is guaranteed.
The choice of the course will depend on the conditions (water level, weather), the authorizations if necessary, your desires, your previous experience. If you have already done one of them, please let us know.
NB: as all these criteria are not always known in advance, it is not necessarily possible to determine the choice of canyon when booking.
- 3h30 to 5h00 of canyon tour (once in the water).
- Usual meeting time is 9:00 am, ending around 5:00 pm.
Levels / Difficulties
This is an introductory course in sports, with technical training, requiring a good level of comfort and a good condition to move in mountain terrain.
Sporty beginners accepted.
- Access walk (approach + return) limited to 2 hours.
- Progression in the river bed requiring a certain ease to cross steep passages.
- Carrying a backpack, with collective equipment.
- Jumps from 0 to 8 metres, always optional but requiring good tonicity and a search for precision.
- Abseiling up to 30 metres, which can be watered.
- A swim that may require a minimum of whitewater proficiency.
- Moderate commitment: effort of up to 7 hours (approach + descent + return), several waterfalls can be linked without interruption.
Framing
The activity is supervised by one state certified canyoning instructor A member of the Ossau valley instructors' office, Aventure Chlorophylle.
Groups of maximum 10 participants per instructor.
We can accommodate up to 6 groups in this formula, but at different locations. Never more than two groups simultaneously in the same canyon.
Materials provided
- 5 mm isothermal neoprene suit in 2 pieces (jacket + overalls)
- Neoprene socks
- Equipped harness (lanyards, carabiners, descender)
- Headset (some with Go Pro attachment)
- Collective equipment (bags, cans, ropes, etc.)
Please prepare the list of participants with first name, height (=height in cm), weight, shoe size so that we can come to the meeting point with the appropriate equipment.
This list must be sent to us either at the time of registration or at least 48 hours before the outing.

You must plan for
- Come to the meeting point with your vehicle: transport to the activity site is not provided, if you are without a car, please let us know beforehand to consider the possibility of carpooling.
- Sports shoesThe shoes must be lace-up, grippy, and suitable for the activity (wet, supportive, such as trainers, tennis shoes, trail shoes, or light hiking shoes. No water sports shoes).
- Don't forget your spare shoes so you can leave with dry feet.
- Swimming costume, towel, shorts, T-shirt, cap, sun cream, jacket.
- A synthetic sports T-shirt, lycra type or equivalent (optional but recommended)
- Picnic to go.
- Water bottle
- Large plastic bag to pack your wet things when you return.
- No credit card for payment on site, please bring a cheque, cash (with a deposit if possible), holiday vouchers, ANCV sports vouchers.

How to define your level
Description of the level :
A multi-faceted introductory course that is suitable for everyone: novices or occasional practitioners.
- Access walk (approach + return) limited to 30 minutes.
- Progression in the natural river bed is slippery but does not require any skills other than those of mountain hiking.
- No or little bag to carry (only your equipment and possibly your picnic).
- Jumps from 0 to 7 metres, of simple execution, always optional and easily avoidable.
- Simple but compulsory abseils, maximum 15 metres.
- Short swim, calm water, weak current.
- Limited commitment: effort less than 5 hours (approach + descent + return), escape routes exist.
Skills required :
- Be in good physical condition, but not necessarily athletic, limited physical commitment.
- Know how to swim, be able to put your head under water.
- Be able to jump 1-2 metres into the water, although all jumps are avoidable.
- Be able to walk, off-path, for 3 hours, with a moderate gradient.
- Be able to overcome fear to hang from a rope. No previous experience required.
- Children from 12 years of age (minimum age in groups, lowered to 10 years in families depending on the case).
Description of the level :
This is an introductory course in sports, with technical training, requiring a good level of comfort and a good condition to move in mountain terrain.
Beginners accepted.
- Access walk (approach + return) limited to 2 hours.
- Progression in the river bed requiring a certain ease to cross steep passages.
- Carrying a backpack, with collective equipment.
- Jumps from 0 to 8 metres, always optional but requiring good tonicity and a search for precision.
- Abseiling up to 30 metres, which can be watered.
- A swim that may require a minimum of whitewater proficiency.
- Moderate commitment: effort of up to 7 hours (approach + descent + return), several waterfalls can be linked without interruption.
Skills required :
- Be in good physical condition, have a regular sport practice.
- Know how to swim, be comfortable in the water.
- Be able to jump into the water without hesitation up to 3 metres.
- Be able to evolve in a rocky environment, to face new and even impressive situations.
- Be able to abseil: previous experience of verticality (accrobranche, climbing, canyoning) is recommended.
- Children from 13 years old.
Description of the level :
This is an advanced sports course, with technical training, requiring previous experience in canyoning, particularly in climbing verticals.
- Access walk (approach + return) of up to 4 hours.
- Progression in the river bed requiring a certain ease of movement and participation of everyone in the management of safety.
- Carrying a backpack, sometimes heavy.
- Technical jumps requiring tonicity and precision.
- Abseiling may be wet, and may exceed 50 metres. You will help the instructor with rope handling.
- A swim that may require a minimum of whitewater proficiency.
- Large-scale commitment: effort of up to 12 hours (approach + descent + return), the environment is isolated, the route does not always have possible escapes.
Skills required :
Be in good physical condition, have a regular practice of sports, especially on mountain activities.
- Know how to swim, be comfortable in the water.
- Be able to perform technical jumps in a difficult environment. Previous experience required.
- Be able to evolve in a rocky and vertical environment, knowing how to abseil is mandatory.
- Be able to manage your own safety and participate in the safety of your teammates.
- Children from 14 years old.
