Description
Via ferrata of Siala
A vertiginous course close to Gourette
The Via Ferrata du Siala near GouretteThe via ferrata is a vertiginous route on a wall equipped with metal rungs to facilitate the ascent. Safety is ensured by a cable, a real lifeline to which you will be connected by a harness equipped with a via ferrata lanyard throughout the course.
The journey takes us first to the Siala canyon by a system of monkey bridges with an overhanging view of the Valentin waterfalls. Then you will climb on the slabs of schist of which the cliff is composed. Then, according to your ease, the itinerary has 3 variants to get out: the escape route for those who have already had enough, the classic route for the majority or the passage of the big overhangs if your arms allow you!
In any case, you will enjoy the exceptional panorama offered by the summit of this via ferrata in Bearn!

Via Ferrata or Via Cordata?
The Via Cordata route uses only the natural holds offered by the rock and the entrance to the course is 30 metres above the Gave d'Ossau. As a result, the Via Cordata will be more mentally impressive than the Via Ferrata. However, climbing the Via Ferrata by means of the metal bars is as physical as the Via Corda.
If you have already climbed and are not afraid of heights: choose the Via Cordata.
If you have never climbed before and are a little apprehensive about heights: opt for the Via Ferrata
If you have never climbed before, but are intrepid: opt for the Via Cordata
If you have never climbed before and you are not in good physical condition, you can test yourself with an introductory rock climbing session.
Finally, if you like climbing, are not afraid even at the top, and are in good physical condition: climbing a big mountain route is for you!
